How Epic's free games work
Every week the Epic Games Store makes one or more PC games free for a limited time. "Claiming" a game means adding it to your account at $0 during the offer; once claimed, it stays in your library permanently, even after the offer ends. You don't need to download or play it during the week.
- When it changes: the free games usually rotate on Thursdays at 11 a.m. Eastern, and Epic shows the next week's games in advance. Holiday periods sometimes switch to a new game every day.
- What you need: a free Epic Games account. Claiming works from the website or the Epic Games Launcher.
- The catch: there isn't one beyond the account. You're not signing up for a subscription and nothing renews.
How to claim a free game
- Open the game's store page from the list above, or the Epic Games Store's free games section.
- Sign in to your Epic Games account, or create one.
- Click Get. The checkout should show a total of $0.00.
- Click Place Order. The game is now in your library.
