Release date and launch week
Rockstar's official page lists GTA 6 as "Coming November 19, 2026." It's the third date the game has had: Rockstar first aimed for fall 2025, then moved it to May 26, 2026, and then to November 19, 2026, saying the extra time was for polish. In an October 2026 interview with Famitsu, studio head Rob Nelson said the game "will definitely be released on time."
Physical copies reach stores on November 12, a week early, but there's no disc in the box: it holds a download code. Pre-loading opens the same week, so the game can be on your console before launch day. That leaves 20776 days from when we last checked these facts.
Price and editions
| Edition | Price (US) | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $79.99 | The full game |
| Ultimate Edition | $99.99 | The full game; Premium vehicles, weapons, apparel and extra activities and businesses in Vice City (digital only) |
The Ultimate Edition's extras are in-game items, not extra story. GamesRadar reports that Standard owners can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition later, so the choice doesn't have to be final on launch day. Our guides cover the edition choice in detail.
Pre-order bonuses
- Vintage Vice City Pack: Outfits for Jason and Lucia, a '55 Vapid Stanier with a garage, and a weapon pattern. For pre-orders and purchases before November 20, 2026, on either edition (source)
- One month of GTA+: For digital pre-orders; redeemable right away (source)
Platforms, and what about PC?
GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. There is no version for PS4 or Xbox One. Rockstar's site labels PS5 as the platform it "plays best on". That's a marketing label; Rockstar hasn't detailed any difference between the two versions.
No PC version has been announced. Rockstar has released its last three big games on consoles first and on PC later, and Take-Two's CEO has said PC players are not the launch audience. Anything you read about a PC date is a guess until Rockstar says otherwise.
The map: Leonida and Vice City
GTA 6 is set in Leonida, a fictional state based on Florida. Rockstar calls it "the darkest side of the sunniest place in America." These are the places Rockstar has named so far:
| Place | Real-world inspiration (widely reported) |
|---|---|
| Vice City | Miami |
| Leonida Keys | Florida Keys |
| Grassrivers | the Everglades |
| Port Gellhorn | Not stated |
| Ambrosia | Not stated |
| Mount Kalaga National Park | Not stated |
Rockstar has not shown the full map. Leaked maps circulated in 2026; we don't reproduce them, and Rockstar has had leaked material taken down.
Jason and Lucia
The game has two playable leads, Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, a couple pulled into a criminal conspiracy across Leonida after a job goes wrong. Rockstar's official description says they "have always known the deck is stacked against them." The voice actors have not been officially confirmed.
