GTA 6 costs $79.99 for the Standard Edition and $99.99 for the Ultimate Edition in the US. Both include the full game. The Ultimate Edition adds a bundle of in-game vehicles, weapons, outfits and extra businesses and activities around Vice City. It doesn’t add early access or extra story. The prices come from Rockstar’s pre-order announcement.

What the Ultimate Edition adds
The extra $20 buys a pack of items and unlocks that you’d otherwise earn, buy in-game or go without. Rockstar’s list includes:
- Vehicles: a ’95 Grotti Cheetah, a Ganado Retro Build, a Shitzu Squalo boat, a ’67 Vapid Dominator Buggy with a garage, and vehicles for Jason’s safehouse (a Dinka Enduro motorcycle and a Crest kayak).
- Weapons and cosmetics: a Hawk & Little Morgan revolver, personalized pistol variants, Vice City Style outfits and tattoos.
- Places and activities: a Classic Car Collection, a custom garage, a salon, a tattoo shop and several other vendors and properties unlocked around Vice City.
None of it is required to finish the story. It’s convenience and customization, delivered on day one.
Which one should you buy?
For most players, the Standard Edition. You get the whole game, the pre-order pack if you buy before November 20, and you keep the option to buy a physical box. Rockstar games historically get very long post-launch lives, and much of what’s in a premium pack becomes less special once you’ve played for a few weeks.
The Ultimate Edition makes sense if:
- you know you’ll play for hundreds of hours and like cars and customization;
- you want the content from the very first hour rather than earning it;
- you’re buying digital anyway, so the physical-only advantage of Standard doesn’t matter to you.
Can you upgrade later?
Rockstar sells the Ultimate content as an upgrade on top of the Standard Edition, which suggests you’ll be able to start with Standard and buy the difference later. Check the store listing before you rely on that, since upgrade pricing hasn’t been confirmed separately from the bundle.
Are prices different on PS5 and Xbox?
No. Both editions are priced the same on PlayStation Store and Microsoft Store. Retailers sometimes discount the physical Standard Edition, so if you’re buying the box, it’s worth comparing a couple of stores. Digital prices on console stores rarely drop before launch.
